FROM THE BOX TO THE WATER

Set it up once at home (about 20 minutes), then it's a short checklist every trip.

WHAT GOES WHERE
An example layout. The puck goes up high, away from metal, magnets, batteries and wires (where to mount it); the voice box just needs to hear you and reach the base's Wi-Fi.

FIRST-TIME SETUP

Do this at home, on home Wi-Fi - it's also where wireless updates work.

  1. ANTENNA, THEN POWERScrew the antenna onto the base before it's powered. Power it up: the screen shows the boot screen, then POLE. The motor stays still - it never turns at start-up.
  2. PHONEJoin the same Wi-Fi as the base, hold D2 on the base 3 s to see its address, open it in Safari, then Share › Add to Home Screen. Details
  3. PAIR THE REMOTESETUP › PAIR REMOTE › START PAIRING, type the code the remote shows with 1 2 3. Details
  4. MOUNT + PAIR THE HEADING PUCKMount it up high, away from metal, magnets, batteries and wires (the motor, speakers, steel), X arrow to the bow - where to mount it. Then SETUP › HEADING PUCK › PAIR PUCK, switch the puck on, wait for GREEN. Details
  5. CALIBRATE THE POLE COMPASSSETUP › CALIBRATE POLE COMPASS. Slowly turn the pole head in a figure 8 until accuracy shows GREAT, then SAVE.
  6. CALIBRATE THE BOAT COMPASSSETUP › CALIBRATE BOAT COMPASS: a slow full circle with the boat (or a figure 8 by hand), SAVE. Then point the pole straight at the bow and tap MATCH.
  7. SET HOMEPoint the pole at the bow, then SETUP › POLE SETTINGS › SET HOME HERE. GO HOME will point it there.
  8. YOUR SETTINGSIn Pole settings: SCAN speed, arc and pause at the ends, MOVE PER TAP for the arrows, and GPS smoothing (leave ON).
  9. VOICE BOXSwitch it on, wait for Reporting for duty, captain., say cuckoo … how is the battery. Commands

EVERY TRIP

Tick them off - this list remembers on this phone until you reset it.

END OF TRIP

REMEMBER

The phone, remote and voice box only ask. The base does the work by itself - lose any of them and the pole keeps doing what you last told it.
